At Werenfridus, we believe that art adds colour to the world and teaches pupils to think outside the box. Are you looking for a place where creativity is given room to flourish and where ‘making mistakes’ is precisely the start of something beautiful? You will inspire our pupils to translate their ideas into images. Whether it's classical techniques, digital art, or spatial work: you are the guide who challenges them to visualise their own talents and identity.

What will you do?
You will teach fine arts and CKV (Cultivation of Artistic Competence) to HAVO and VWO students in both the lower and upper secondary school. The position is for a 0.8 to 1 FTE appointment, but a smaller appointment is certainly also possible in consultation.

About our department
You'll join an enthusiastic department of eight colleagues. Collaboration is central within our department. We share expertise, enjoy brainstorming together, and are building a strong arts curriculum. Collegiality, professionalism, and a warm atmosphere ensure you'll feel at home quickly.

Working at Werenfridus
Our building is divided into learning houses and learning squares, creating a personal and friendly atmosphere. You will join a team of loyal and hardworking colleagues, where the doors are open and everyone is there for each other.

“At Werenfridus, we believe in the balance between relationship and outcome. We offer our students and staff the structure they need and the freedom they can handle.”

Team
At Werenfridus, in addition to being part of a subject department, you are also part of a team. Together with the team leader, the team is responsible for the educational outcomes and the pedagogical and didactic approach within the department. We work with five teams, namely: the foundation year, the lower secondary HAVO and VWO streams, and the upper secondary HAVO and VWO streams. Based on your affinity with the target group and the organisation's needs, you will be assigned a place in one of the teams in consultation.

School plan
This school year, we have launched our new school plan (see video below). The foundation of this school plan is to support pupils in becoming engaged, independent, and motivated global citizens. We aim to achieve this by providing meaningful education with a strong emphasis on formative assessment and the basic skills of language and arithmetic, digital literacy, and citizenship.

Good education and all that it entails
We want every student to feel seen. Whether it's support for dyslexia or extra challenges in our Honours ProgrammeWe offer a bespoke service. It can therefore easily happen that you have a VWO (pre-university) student in the class who achieves their diploma in five years, or a HAVO (senior secondary general education) student with an extra broad profile. This diversity makes your working day different every day.

What do we expect from you?

  • You are an educator at heart. You see the students and the students see you. Through your relationships, you are able to play a decisive role in the classroom dynamic.

About Tabor College Werenfridus

Werenfridus is a school for the socially engaged, independent and motivated pupil. We are a school for havo, atheneum and gymnasium full of challenges: Dutch-speaking and bilingual. Our passionate teachers and our special building encourage pupils to receive an education in a safe environment. At our school, it is not about being the very best, but pupils can become the best version of themselves here.

Werenfridus is a safe village that lets the world in in innovative ways. Not only the building exudes this, but also the organisation, the staff and the pupils. A wonderful opportunity to offer our education at a high level and to be distinctive.

These times emphasise even more than usual that students need customisation. What works fine for one person may not be at all convenient for another. Good teaching has three key elements. Competence, where we observe development for each pupil and use differentiation for optimal results. Autonomy, the flexibility and space there should be to learn in your own way. And finally relationship, because we see pupils at school and like to meet them in person.

Especially if students want to know more about the world around them, they are right at home here. World affairs such as culture, (world) citizenship, business opportunities, travel and the international programme make our school unique. We bring the world into the school and our students into the world. Here, students become socially engaged, curious and independent: the basis for a successful future.
