Temporary contract with a view to a permanent position
SG NEWTON
‘Dare to discover’ the world of a High Performing School in the making.
We believe in education that offers opportunity, where all pupils build a solid foundation of knowledge and actively connect new insights with what they already know, linking theory and practice. During the technical practical lessons for the Services and Products profile, pupils work with different types of machines, tools, and materials. This requires extra attention and help from a technical teaching assistant, which is indispensable. Therefore, we are looking for the very best technical teaching assistant in the region, and we want you!
What will you do?
You will support the teacher during the lessons for the ‘Product Design and Improvement’ curriculum section.
You ensure that all materials, tools, and machinery are ready for use for the lessons that will be given that day.
You ensure the workspace and machine room are tidy at the end of the working day.
In consultation with the lecturer, you will be responsible for purchasing materials.
What do you bring?
You are a qualified technical teaching assistant. You have:
- A passion for your profession and for working with our target group.
- An open and inspiring attitude with which you can motivate students.
- The willingness to work with colleagues to bring out the best in our pupils, working in an evidence-informed way.
- Supervising small groups of pupils in acquiring practical skills and completing assignments.
- Providing technical guidance and instructions on the safe use of machinery, tools, and materials.
- To contribute ideas with the teacher on the structure and improvement of practical assignments and demonstrations.
- Relevant vocational training (or demonstrable level 3 work and intellectual capacity).
- You work well with teachers and actively contribute to discussions about the content and organisation of practical education.
At SG Newton, you get the chance to truly make a difference. You will start with a temporary contract with the clear intention of converting this to a permanent position if you perform well. You will be graded according to the CAO VO in scale 6, up to a maximum of €3610 gross per month for a full-time position, commensurate with your background and experience.
Within Atlas College, you can count on excellent terms of employment including:
- 8,33% end-of-year bonus (13th month)
- 8% holiday allowance
- A solid pension scheme with ABP
- Commuting allowance
- A personal choice budget of 90 hours for full-time employment
- A leased bicycle scheme
- A laptop on loan

About Atlas College | SG Newton
School portrait
The motto of our school is ‘’dare to discover'. With our motto, we challenge pupils to discover themselves and also their talents. Not for nothing does the school bear the name of the greater discoverer, Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727). At Newton, pupils are given both the time and the opportunity to discover what they are good at.
SG Newton is a safe and concerned school. Involved in society and involved in each other. We do our best to make each other feel ‘I am somebody, I belong and can do more and more’. At Newton, pupils discover who they are and what they can do, in a safe environment in a small-scale school. Every pupil is seen. Our pupils think we have a nice, cheerful and open building.
We find personal growth as important as school performance. With us, pupils get to know themselves well so that they can make good choices for their future. You don't have to know what you want to be when you are twelve! Within our Talent Lines, pupils can choose many different things and try them out. But above all, we are just a very nice school, in a beautiful building, with happy pupils and good results.
Our school has about 700 pupils and we work with a team of about 110 staff.
SG Newton also has the regional function of teaching non-native speakers. For a more comprehensive picture of our school, please refer to our website: www.sgnewton.nl
