About Zuiderzee College
At Zuiderzee College in Zaandam, 606 pupils are taught in a modern and light building. We develop the talents of our pupils and our staff; our pupils, staff, and parents learn together, and we are connected to our surroundings. This is how we bring out the best in ourselves and each other.
Head, heart and hands
Pupils develop through thinking, feeling, and doing. Our pupils therefore learn not only *in* school, but also outside of it, with excursions, internships, and company visits. This is how we prepare our pupils for the society of today and tomorrow.
Structure provides space
We offer our pupils choices along a clear structure. In doing so, they choose the broadening, deepening, or revision that suits them, or they follow a subject at a higher level. We believe that pupils become motivated when they can make their own choices.
Teacher as learning professional
We offer our employees the space to take responsibility for their own learning process. We share our knowledge with each other, helping each other move forward a little more each day. We see students as fully-fledged colleagues: we learn from them and they learn from us.

The staff at Zuiderzee College are characterised by a high level of commitment to the students. Working from a positive pedagogical environment is the starting point, where we teach desired behaviour in a safe environment by learning from and with each other. Because students are different, learn differently and because there are differences within each subject in terms of knowledge to be acquired and skills to be learned, teachers differentiate as much as possible. In this way, we offer opportunities for every student. Through the use of laptops and the development of blended learning, students are offered tailor-made education that matches their educational needs and interests as much as possible.
