- Scope: 0.6 – 0.8 FTE, possibility of expansion through the use of flexible hours and/or mentorship
- Second-degree qualification or studying for it
- Start date: 1 August 2026
At the Copernicus, you give students the space to discover who they are and what suits them. You work at a public school offering pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO), senior general secondary education (HAVO) and pre-university education (VWO), where clarity and structure form the foundation. At the same time, there is room to experiment and grow. You feel at home in a no-nonsense school where agreements are clear and where everyone can be themselves.
What makes Copernicus special is the extended bridge period. In mavo/havo, this lasts for two years, and in havo/vwo, it's even three years. Pupils are given time to discover their level, without making hasty choices. In mixed-ability classes, they work at two levels and see for themselves where they stand. With your guidance, you help them progress step by step, in a calm and safe learning environment.
What does this position look like?
At Copernicus SG, the teaching method is not the primary driver, but the teacher is. This is why you are given a lot of freedom to shape your lessons as you wish. In year 1, students primarily receive project-based education, from year 2 onwards, the (Polaris) method is used as support. Furthermore, we do it together. Not only with the entire team, but also with your department. The department consists of enthusiastic colleagues (subject teachers and TOAs) who are keen to seize new opportunities in educational innovation. All to get the most out of the students. In an engaging, safe environment.
What do you bring?
You hold or are studying for a second-degree teaching qualification. You enjoy positively coaching and guiding pupils to achieve their learning goals. Furthermore, you like to follow the latest trends in education. Because our world is changing rapidly at times.
What do we offer?
A pleasant working atmosphere with short lines of communication, a great deal of mutual trust, and ample opportunities for personal development. You can help shape your own working environment and conditions. A warm, well-organised, clear school where everyone knows each other. Did you know that Copernicus SG scores a 9.7 for safety? New colleagues can count on a pleasant start and guidance. Together, we will ensure you feel right at home with us quickly.
What does your appreciation look like?
This position is valued at scale LB. This collective labour agreement also offers attractive secondary employment conditions, such as 8%% holiday allowance, 8.33%% year-end bonus, a pension scheme with ABP, and generous leave facilities. In addition, the Atlas College offers, among other things, generous (tax) exchange schemes, and there is ample scope for professionalisation and development. Every employee has a training budget for skill enhancement.
