Practice instructor in hospitality and services, 0.4 FTE – temporary

Practical Instructor in Hospitality and Service Industry
Forta practical training in Heemskerk | 2 days (0.4 FTE) on Mondays and Tuesdays | Temporary (replacement)

Can you provide young people with trust, offer structure, and help them grow? Additionally, do you have experience in the hospitality industry and/or service industry? To replace a colleague during her maternity leave, we are looking for a pedagogical-strong, versatile practice instructor. Side-entry applicants are also welcome.

What will you do?
You independently deliver a number of practical lessons within the hospitality and service industry. Examples include:
  • Serving: You teach students how to set the table, welcome guests, take orders, and serve food and drinks.
  • Facilities: You teach students how to clean spaces, care for materials, and set up a space for use.
  • Sales: You teach students how to help customers, present products, replenish shelves, and check out.
You prepare the lessons and guide the students in their practice. You agree on the content and approach with the relevant teachers.

Pedagogical guidance takes priority. The practical subject is a means of helping students grow in independence, self-confidence and teamwork. Our students need clarity, repetition and personal attention. You establish contact, set clear boundaries, and remain calm when the lesson doesn’t go as expected. You adjust your explanations and pace to what the students need.

Flexibility is part of this function. You work with different groups, switch between tasks, and are willing to provide lessons or support outside your own field of expertise. Together with colleagues, you decide what is needed and where you can contribute.

Job requirements

Who are you?
  • You choose to study in the field and to mentor our target group.
  • You are highly pedagogical: you have patience, offer structure and see what a student needs.
  • You have professional knowledge and work experience in the hospitality industry and/or the service industry.
  • You are highly versatile and flexible in your approach and work.
  • You can independently lead a group and actively seek collaboration with colleagues.
A transition to teaching?
Even if you are working in a different sector now, we invite you to respond. Your practical experience is valuable. Especially your motivation to work with our students and your willingness to develop your teaching skills are important. Together we will discuss which guidance and any training are appropriate.
