At Forta, pupils learn primarily by doing. Within our hospitality department, they practise skills suitable for working in waiting on. For example, they learn to greet guests, set tables, take orders, serve, and collaborate. In doing so, they also develop their independence, self-confidence, and employability skills.
What will you do?
You provide practical hospitality lessons, with an emphasis on serving and waiting. It's possible that in the future, there will be an opportunity to also provide some lessons in the kitchen. In addition, you teach a number of lessons outside your own area of expertise.
An important part of the role is our Les Café. This is a real learning environment within the school, where pupils learn to make cappuccinos, serve drinks, set tables and welcome guests, among other things.
In addition, you will be a mentor to a third-year class. You will guide the pupils in their development and will be the point of contact for pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues involved.
You:
- provides practical and varied lessons in hospitality, serving and waiting
- runs the Les Café together with the cooking teacher and the pupils
- Teaches pupils to work safely, hygienically and hospitably
- Tune your lessons to the level and abilities of the pupils.
- Mentors your class and maintains contact with parents/carers and colleagues
- develop assignments that align with real professional practice
- Contributes to activities and developments within the school
