Working as a teacher at the Berger Scholengemeenschap (BSG) in Bergen? That means working at a small-scale school where creativity, art, and culture are central. In a unique location, on the edge of the Bergerbos, you will provide our students with excellent and innovative education under the motto ‘the art of learning’. Every day, together with involved colleagues, you bring out the best in our students. And especially in yourself too. Because that's the beauty of working at the BSG: with us, your development is at least as important.

As a teacher, you are part of a specific subject section. Within this section, you have a lot of contact with immediate colleagues and together you determine the content of the lessons. You also visit each other's classes, as this contributes to the development of education and each other. Tuesday afternoon is your meeting day. Then, students are free on time (2.55pm at the latest) and there is a 40-minute timetable. The rest of the week your lessons are 50 minutes.

The art of learning
At the BSG, as a teacher, you have a genuine concern for our students. Creativity, art and culture play a crucial role in this. Together with your colleagues, you encourage our pupils to develop in areas beyond purely cognitive skills. You also do this with colleagues outside the subject section. Cross-curricular cooperation is a matter of course with us, for example during our activity weeks. Your work as a teacher consists of:

• Provide German lessons for lower and upper secondary school.
• contribute to the personal development of pupils.
• strengthening the continuing learning pathway together with your colleagues from the subject team.

If you become our new colleague, you can count on good general and subject-related guidance. In our small-scale school, you will quickly discover all that the BSG has to offer you.

About Berger Scholengemeenschap

BSG stands for Berger Scholengemeenschap, a school where an average of 800 mavo, havo and atheneum pupils come together in a quiet spot in Bergerbos. Our school is a community, where our team of about 100 colleagues works together with committed pupils and concerned parents to provide inspiring education. We believe it is important that all our pupils are seen. Close contact contributes to this.

Apart from proximity, creativity is central at our school. At the BSG, our pupils get the chance to develop in the field of arts and culture. This includes subjects such as drawing, handicrafts, textile work forms, drama, music, programming & design and training in cultural heritage. Creativity is reflected in all subjects and cross-curricular projects/activities: pupils are challenged in new ideas and solutions. As a result, learning is a creative process between pupils and also in interaction with you as a teacher.

In addition, the BSG is not only a learning organisation for students. As a teacher, you too are encouraged to develop further. That is why we give you the freedom and space to spend part of your working week on personal development. That too is typical of BSG.

Berger Scholengemeenschap is part of the Stichting Openbaar Voortgezet Onderwijs Noord-Holland-Noord (SOVON). Want to know more about SOVON? www.sovon.nu
