The function
As a facilities assistant, in the role of subject specialist you are responsible for independently carrying out (technical) facilities work. In the role of facility support worker, you distribute and take care of the loan or reservation of facility resources and receive reports regarding facility services. In these tasks, you monitor progress and ensure quality. In the role of teaching support person, you answer questions of a general nature from students, staff and third parties. You receive visitors, supervise the building and the grounds, and observe problem behaviour. If necessary, you speak to students and staff about unacceptable behaviour and jump into situations that require mediation.

About the team
The Facilities and Service Department provides services at Talland College's five locations. For each location, there is a Facilities and Service team led by a team leader. A team consists of facility staff, service and support staff and security staff. Final responsibility for the department lies with the Facilities and Service Manager. The department comprises a total of 75 FTE employees. The team working at the Alkmaar location is 15 fte.  

The Facilities and Service team employs facilities staff who, as educational support staff, contribute to a hospitable and safe (learning) environment. In addition, the team carries out technical and facility work. You are able to ask the right questions so that the customer's issue is optimally met. The work requires some interpretation and empathy in certain situations. You are also involved in supervisory tasks, opening and closing rounds and are deployed in case of incidents. Together, you form part of the FAFS organisation. 

Job requirements

Your profile
You enjoy being the Talland College's calling card. You are able to speak to students, staff and external guests in a correct and customer-friendly manner. You are flexibly employable (day and evening shifts - occasionally on Saturdays) and you are able to switch quickly between practical work and personal contact with people. You have technical knowledge, good communication skills and at least a completed MBO-2 diploma. Work experience in pedagogical support is a plus.
