The basis, of course, is teaching. In addition, you will work together with your colleagues on the further development of our education and possibly carry out additional tasks, e.g. as a mentor. We also give you the freedom and space to devote part of your working week to other tasks, such as personal development.

Your duties will include:

  • to teach your subject to pupils in the lower years of mavo, havo, vwo;
  • contribute to pupils' personal development;
  • (possibly) fulfil a mentoring role for your mentor class;
  • strengthening the continuous learning line together with colleagues from the subject section;
  • (possibly) providing in-depth lessons to groups of pupils.

If you become our new colleague, we'll organise an induction programme for you in your first year so you can really settle in. Together with your two coaches for general and subject-matter guidance, you will then discover everything the Willem Blaeu has to offer.

About osg Willem Blaeu

Osg Willem Blaeu is a small-scale comprehensive school ranging from vmbo to grammar school. With some 800 pupils, 90 teachers and 35 support staff, together we form an exceptional school. A top sports talent school where we offer bilingual education. Sportsmanship and world citizenship: that is what we stand for. Our motto: find, discover, learn and improve through practice. Together, we let our pupils grow into self-confident citizens who believe in their qualities.

On the way to something new

Together with the Stedelijk Dalton College Alkmaar, we are aiming for a school merger as of 1 August 2027, a wonderful opportunity. Together on our way to a new school for Alkmaar.

The new school will be a future-oriented, inclusive learning community.

Alongside a solid foundation, pupils are given the space and guidance to shape their own learning journey. They contribute to school decisions, work on real-world issues, and make choices that align with their interests and ambitions. This way, they discover who they are, what they are capable of, and where they want to go.

The fundamental principles on which the new school is based are:

  • Small-scale learning community
  • Thinking and doing in balance
  • Learning in your own way

The new school: small in connection, grand in development.
