Alkmaar, 27 October 2025 - The Education Region Hollands Noorden is in full swing. After its official launch earlier this year, the website onderwijsregiohollandsnoorden.nl is now live. With this website and a series of activities, the organisation is working towards one common goal: strong and future-proof education in our region.
Stronger together in the classroom
The Education Region Hollands Noorden is a network organisation in which school boards, teacher training institutes and partners in education work together on structural solutions to the teacher shortage. The focus is on five themes: recruitment, matching, training, supervision and professionalisation. By combining knowledge and joining forces, a solid regional network is created that helps new teachers enter the profession and supports existing teaching professionals in their further development.
The organisation focuses not only on filling vacancies, but especially on future-proofing education. Regional cooperation creates new initiatives, such as pilots for hybrid teaching, innovative forms of guidance and a clear vision of Lifelong Development.
New website live
The launch of educationregiohollandsnoorden.nl marks another step in the development of the Education Region. The website brings together all the information for those who want to orientate or grow further in education. Visitors will find routes to becoming a teacher, inspiration stories, training information and practical tools, among other things.Whether you are considering a move into teaching, are already working in the profession or are looking for cooperation as a school, the website offers a clear overview of all opportunities in the region.
Information evening for lateral entrants
On 12 November 2025, the Education Region Hollands Noorden is organising the meeting ‘Education something for you?’ at Talland College in Zaandam. During this evening, interested parties can discover whether a career in education suits them. Visitors will get explanations about different routes to becoming a teacher, hear experiences of lateral entrants and can ask questions to the intake broker and trainers.
The meeting is free to attend and intended for anyone considering working (again) in education, whether in secondary education, mbo, practical education or special education.
About the Education Region
Shortages in education are an urgent and complex issue. No single school or programme can solve that issue alone. This challenge calls for intensive cooperation. In our Education Region, twenty boards from secondary and senior secondary vocational education join forces with the teacher training institutes of the VU, UvA and HvA and the two regional (academic) training schools ROWF and AONHW. Together, we are working on an attractive and sustainable education labour market.
