Develop further as a teacher educator

Teacher Lucas in conversation with quality assurance officer Sonja. RSG Enkhuizen

As a teacher educator, you make an important contribution to the quality of education. By effectively guiding students, beginning teachers and colleagues, you help the next generation of education professionals to grow. The Teacher Educator Programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam supports you in further developing your expertise as an educator.

The training programme is intended for both school-based mentors and institute-based teacher educators with at least one year of experience in supervising students and/or colleagues. Participants from all educational sectors - ranging from primary and secondary education to vocational education, higher education and universities - learn with and from one another. It is precisely this exchange of experiences that makes the programme valuable.

During the course you will work on themes such as training didactics, coaching and supervision, practice-based research, and professional development. You will delve into current insights from research and learn to apply these directly in your own practice. The course is characterised by a strong connection between theory and practice, intensive collaboration in small groups, and a great deal of attention given to reflecting on your own actions.

The training programme consists of multiple modules that can be taken either individually or in combination. In addition, there is a module focused on professional registration for teacher educators (VELON/BRLO). This allows you to choose a learning pathway that aligns with your development needs and experience.
