SG NEWTON
‘Dare to discover’ the world of a High Performing School in the making
We believe in education with opportunities, where all pupils build a solid foundation of knowledge and actively connect new insights with what they already know. That is why we are looking for the very best teachers in the region, and we want you!
We are currently looking for an art and design teacher with a second-grade teaching qualification (0.75 FTE). You are able to switch between art and design lessons with ease, you are pedagogically strong, and your classroom management is in order.

What will you do?
As a teacher of drawing and handicrafts, you teach pupils in the junior years and our non-native speaking pupils. You have complete freedom to shape your own lessons and maintain close contact with colleagues from the arts and culture department.

Your duties will mainly include: developing and delivering inspiring and structured art and craft lessons in the lower school.
You inspire and motivate young people with new, fresh ideas and techniques. Your teaching competencies come to life as you help our students develop in a dynamic, creative world.

What do you bring?
You are a qualified art and craft teacher, or are studying to be one. You have:
  • A passion for your profession and for working with our target group.
  • Experience in working with 2D and 3D.
  • An open and inspiring attitude with which you can motivate students.
  • Fancy turning your creative ideas into a continuous teaching programme.
  • The willingness to work together with colleagues to bring out the best in our pupils, using an evidence-informed approach.
What do we offer you?
At SG Newton, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference. You will start with a temporary contract with the clear intention of converting this to a permanent appointment upon satisfactory performance. You will be classified according to the CAO VO in scale LB, to a maximum of €5520 gross per month for a full-time position, commensurate with your background and experience.
Within Atlas College, you can count on excellent terms of employment including:
  • 8.33% end-of-year bonus (13th month)
  • 8% holiday allowance
  • A solid pension scheme with ABP
  • Commuting allowance
  • A personal choice budget of 90 hours for full-time employment
  • A leased bicycle scheme
  • A laptop on loan
We like to encourage your development and make sure there is enough room to take steps in it.

About Atlas College | SG Newton

School portrait

The motto of our school is ‘’dare to discover'. With our motto, we challenge pupils to discover themselves and also their talents. Not for nothing does the school bear the name of the greater discoverer, Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727). At Newton, pupils are given both the time and the opportunity to discover what they are good at.

SG Newton is a safe and concerned school. Involved in society and involved in each other. We do our best to make each other feel ‘I am somebody, I belong and can do more and more’. At Newton, pupils discover who they are and what they can do, in a safe environment in a small-scale school. Every pupil is seen. Our pupils think we have a nice, cheerful and open building.

We find personal growth as important as school performance. With us, pupils get to know themselves well so that they can make good choices for their future. You don't have to know what you want to be when you are twelve! Within our Talent Lines, pupils can choose many different things and try them out. But above all, we are just a very nice school, in a beautiful building, with happy pupils and good results.

Our school has about 700 pupils and we work with a team of about 110 staff.

SG Newton also has the regional function of teaching non-native speakers. For a more comprehensive picture of our school, please refer to our website: www.sgnewton.nl
