English teacher (2nd grade | 0.4 FTE – 0.6 FTE | Temporary due to maternity leave)

Are you ready to inspire the next generation?

Are you looking for a dynamic and warm workplace to put your expertise to use for the second half of the school year? Due to our colleague's maternity leave, we are looking for an English teacher from February 1st, 2027 until the summer holiday 2027.

What will you do?
  • You teach our lower secondary (grades 1-3) and upper secondary (grades 4-6) students.
  • You are a ‘host or hostess’ in the classroom: you create a safe base within which students take control of their own learning process (formative work).
  • You make a valuable contribution to the common goals of the department.
Working at Werenfridus
Tabor College Werenfridus is a school for (bilingual) HAVO, Atheneum and Gymnasium.
Our modern building is divided into learning houses and learning squares, which creates a personal and cosy atmosphere. You will join a team of loyal colleagues where doors are literally and figuratively open.
We believe in the balance between relationship and result: we offer the structure you need and the freedom you can handle.

School plan
The foundation of our school plan is supporting students to become involved, independent and motivated global citizens. We want to do this by providing meaningful education with a strong emphasis on formative practices and the basic skills of language and mathematics, digital literacy, and citizenship.

Language is so much more than just words and grammar
Melina Debortoli is one of our colleagues from the English department. Below you can read how she experiences her work:

“Language is so much more than just words and grammar; it opens doors to new perspectives and possibilities. That’s why I love teaching English, because it not only helps students learn a foreign language, but also to connect with other cultures and world problems. I enjoy incorporating projects into my lessons and letting students be creative. Additionally, I want to make literature more accessible so that they don’t be intimidated by big names like Shakespeare, but can actually read and understand their work with confidence. And hopefully, I want literature to play a role in their lives.

I come from Argentina myself, born and raised there. I have lived here for 6 years and have worked at various schools. Werenfridus is the place where I feel at home. We have a large and enthusiastic English department, where we work together to bring out the best in our students. Once a week we come together for a department meeting. That is always nice and means short lines and quick action. On Friday afternoons we also have a cozy “brown drink” = hot cocoa for the staff who sometimes teach until 8 o’clock. I work here with great pleasure.”

What do we expect from you?
  • You (almost) possess a second-grade qualification in the English subject.
  • You are a teacher with your heart and soul. You see the students. Through the relationship, you know how to positively manage the dynamics in the classroom.
  • You have an affinity with the HAVO/VWO target audience.
What do you get from us?
We are happy to reward your dedication and enthusiasm with attractive employment conditions:
  • Salary & Benefits Een salaris conform de cao VO, passend bij jouw huidige inschaling en ervaring. Je ontvangt een eindejaarsuitkering (8,33%), vakantietoeslag (8%) en een ruim individueel keuzebudget (40 uur + 50 uur bij een fulltime aanstelling) voor een goede werk-privébalans.
  • Security for later and now An excellent pension scheme with ABP and the opportunity to participate in collective insurance (health and disability). Naturally, you will also receive travel expenses.
  • Room for your development We invest in your growth. In the early years of your career, you will receive intensive guidance from your own mentor coach.

About Tabor College Werenfridus

Werenfridus is a school for the socially engaged, independent and motivated pupil. We are a school for havo, atheneum and gymnasium full of challenges: Dutch-speaking and bilingual. Our passionate teachers and our special building encourage pupils to receive an education in a safe environment. At our school, it is not about being the very best, but pupils can become the best version of themselves here.

Werenfridus is a safe village that lets the world in in innovative ways. Not only the building exudes this, but also the organisation, the staff and the pupils. A wonderful opportunity to offer our education at a high level and to be distinctive.

These times emphasise even more than usual that students need customisation. What works fine for one person may not be at all convenient for another. Good teaching has three key elements. Competence, where we observe development for each pupil and use differentiation for optimal results. Autonomy, the flexibility and space there should be to learn in your own way. And finally relationship, because we see pupils at school and like to meet them in person.

Especially if students want to know more about the world around them, they are right at home here. World affairs such as culture, (world) citizenship, business opportunities, travel and the international programme make our school unique. We bring the world into the school and our students into the world. Here, students become socially engaged, curious and independent: the basis for a successful future.
