About the team
The department International language transition pathways provides initial reception education for newcomers aged 16 and over (ISK) for Talland College. Newcomers are students who are not proficient in the Dutch language and have been in the Netherlands for less than two years. The initial reception education team consists of around 60 staff members catering for 400 students across three locations. The teams at each location operate independently while sharing knowledge with one another. We are looking for a teaching assistant for the Hoorn location.

Job requirements

Your profile

  • You have completed a Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent qualification;

  • you are fluent in Dutch and also in Arabic, Tigrinya or Ukrainian, so that you can easily communicate with students who have only recently been in the Netherlands;

  • you offer calmness and structure, create a safe learning environment, and are clear and consistent in your actions;

  • you have a coaching approach and know how to encourage students in a positive way;

  • you work well with colleagues and can deal flexibly with changing circumstances;

  • you are creative, enterprising and eager to take the initiative;

  • experience with culture- and trauma-sensitive working is an advantage.

  • we are offering you a role for 0.4 – 0.8 FTE as a teaching assistant; 

  • you will initially receive a one-year contract with a possible view to extension;

  • a salary in grade 5, €2,466 up to a maximum of €3,431 gross per month for a full-time appointment. The grading depends on your relevant (work) experience and education;

  • holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.33%;
