As a volunteer in the media library, you are the familiar face for pupils and staff. You ensure a pleasant atmosphere, help pupils on their way and actively contribute ideas about the further development of the media library. 

Your duties will include:
  • staffing the media library on working days (08:00 to 16:00), or at least from 10:00 to 15:00;
  • guiding, informing and supporting pupils;
  • ensuring a pleasant and safe working environment;
  • lending, receiving and organising books and other materials;
  • curating and maintaining the collection;
  • promoting reading enjoyment and literacy;
  • organising or supporting reading promotion activities;
  • maintaining contact with subject departments, such as Dutch and English, to align with educational projects and current themes;
  • contribute ideas for new initiatives to position the library visibly and attractively within the school;
  • supporting pupils in searching for information and using available resources.  

Job requirements

We are looking for someone who:
  • can work independently and shows initiative;
  • has an affinity with young people aged 12-18 in secondary education;
  • is strong pedagogically and is able to guide pupils in a respectful manner;
  • possesses good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • easily connects with pupils and colleagues;
  • can collaborate and coordinate well with teachers and subject departments;
  • gets enthusiastic about reading, books and language development;
  • has ideas or thinks along with ideas to further develop the media library in the future as an inspiring place within our school;
  • available 5 days a week from 8:00 to 16:00 or at least from 10:00 to 15:00
  • or is available on one or more fixed working days from 08:00 to 16:00, or at least from 10:00 to 15:00 per working day.
When you are available as a volunteer for one or more fixed working days, we will coordinate together with another volunteer what the division of work (of working days) will be in the media library.
