Team: Level 2 – ABS
Location: Zaandam.
Salary scale: LB (from €3,713 to a maximum of €5,495 based on a full-time appointment) or LC (from €4,226 to a maximum of €6,210 based on a full-time appointment)
Type of vacancy: temporary appointment with a fixed view
With effect from: 1 November 2026
Responding for: 18 September 2026
The function
The teachers we are looking for are versatile in their deployment for teaching level 2 students. We are definitely looking for a teacher for language and citizenship education in our team.
In addition, we need a colleague who is strong in developing new education.
This is related to a major educational change within the team. While we are currently working with our students in a one-year programme towards the ‘Assistant Business Service’ qualification (crebo), next academic year we will be moving to 'Broad mbo 2' (Breedmbo2), offering our students a wider range of profiles.
Can you teach Dutch to vocational education (mbo) students at level 2 and/or do you have the ambition to commit to a major educational development?
Our students are doers. They learn best when language is practical, clear and directly applicable. As a teacher, you play a key role: you build trust, ensure a good atmosphere in the class and steer group dynamics. You know that relationship is the foundation for performance.
Our students come to our programme from various backgrounds and with different prior qualifications. The teacher we are looking for is therefore also able to apply good differentiation in their lessons.
We are looking for several colleagues, but in any case we need a teacher who mainly teaches Dutch and Citizenship.
In addition, we need a colleague who can play an important role in the educational changes and whom we can deploy for other modules such as English, elective components, mathematics simulation, ICT and WPL (work placement) supervision. Furthermore, you may be deployed as a study coach (mentor), helping our students with their personal and professional growth.
About the team
The ABS level 2 team is undergoing major changes. Two colleagues will soon be retiring and our Dutch language teacher has another job. In addition, the change in the educational concept requires a different approach and major changes to our curriculum.
You will join a small team of enthusiastic and positive colleagues who work closely together. We are visible, committed and ready to support each other and our students.
We are increasingly collaborating with other Broad MBO 2 teams at the Alkmaar, Hoorn and Heerhugowaard locations.
Within the team, we work from 5 values: safe atmosphere/fun, offering opportunities, everyone is seen/personal, quality and customisation. We offer a practice-oriented, supportive and safe learning environment in which students are challenged to develop themselves, both personally and professionally. Relationship is central to this: we believe that a good bond with students is the foundation for their success.
Together we ensure education that connects with the world of our students: practical, clear and meaningful.
Job requirements
Your profile
You are an enthusiastic colleague and hold a lower-secondary teaching qualification. You may also have a primary teacher training background or hold a pedagogical-didactic certificate (PDG). Perhaps you obtained a qualification a long time ago or are still studying.
Naturally, you have an affinity for the target audience and know how to motivate students through a practical, clear and personal approach. You have broad subject-matter expertise and you find it an exciting challenge to teach various lesson components. In the course of a working day, you effortlessly switch between Dutch, Citizenship, Career, Study Career Guidance (SLB) and Work Placement (BPV). Above all, you are an educator who knows how to inspire our students and helps them in their development.
Experience in NT2 education is an advantage, as is experience with English. Or you are open to receiving training in this.
You are a true team player and think in terms of possibilities. Creativity, flexibility and resilience under pressure are great additions to your profile. In addition, we appreciate a bit of humour and light-heartedness.
Our offer
We are offering you as a teacher a 0.6 – 1.0 FTE position with a one-year contract with the possibility of extension to a permanent contract.
We would prefer to divide the total available vacancy of 1.4 FTE between 2 people.
The field of work and your profession are constantly changing. We stand and go for lifelong learning. For your professional and personal development, we have our own Talland Academy and the online platform Good Habitz.

If you do not have teaching qualifications for MBO (senior secondary vocational education), you will be placed on salary scale LB (€3,713 to a maximum of €5,495 for a full-time appointment). Placement will be based on knowledge, skills and education.;
holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.33%;
group insurance;
attractive vitality and lifestyle schemes.
