History teacher, second grade

A teacher at Huygens College Heerhugowaard is so much more than just a teacher. You are an indispensable part of our learning community. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to the best education for our pupils. We are a small-scale school, with strong connections. And as a History teacher, you are part of that.

Your duties

At least as important as teaching well: your contribution as a subject specialist to the development of our education. Of course, you do not do this alone, but together with your colleagues from the subject section and other colleagues. Cross-subject collaboration goes without saying here. For example, we do this to the full during our Huygens Days. We also give you the freedom and space to spend part of your working week on other tasks, such as personal development.

You will be teaching in the lower school classes for VMBO-TL/HAVO/VWO (years 1, 2, and 3), on Tuesdays at minimum. Taking on a pastoral role is an option.

Job requirements

We are looking for a second-grade teacher. In addition to your qualification, we believe it is important that you:

- be an addition to the collegial working atmosphere that characterises our school;
- sees feedback as an important tool to keep growing and innovating;
- really involved in the development of our students, in terms of knowledge but also personally.

Employment conditions

An appointment as a teacher LB/LC (horizontal grading from current/last position) as of 17 August 2026 with a scope of 0.6 – 0.7 FTE.

This is a temporary appointment, no later than the end of the school year.
