The function
As a Career Support Advisor, you contribute to our students' success in the job market. You follow up on, advise, and coordinate support for MBO-2 students who will be entering the workforce after graduation, as well as MBO-3/4 students who are at increased risk of dropping out when transitioning to work or further education.
Your role is that of a case manager: you maintain an overview, monitor progress, and, together with students, colleagues, and external partners, determine what form of guidance is needed. Sometimes you offer intensive guidance yourself, and sometimes you bring in other professionals (such as job coaches) or network partners.
Furthermore, you have a preventative role. You engage early with students, teaching teams and work placement supervisors to help think about a suitable work placement and the support needed for internships to be successful. Based on your expertise and network, you identify risks early and advise on appropriate support, thus preventing dropouts as much as possible.
Specifically, this means:
Identifying which students require intensive support and implementing appropriate assistance.
Coaching and monitoring MBO-2 graduates entering the workforce (for up to one year after graduation).
Supporting MBO-3/4 students with a high risk of dropping out in their transition to work.
Facilitating future conversations in collaboration with career coaches.
Supervising complex cases during internships in the BOL and BBL.
Advising teaching teams (work placement supervisors) on students who require additional work placement support. The BA Labour has the expertise to assess what support the student needs to complete the placement. With the correct recommended actions, this can be within the programme itself or involve third-party support, such as a job coach.
Providing light job placement services to students who wish to work and, despite lobbying activities, do not yet have a place in the job market.
Connecting a Flow Table to discuss students at high risk of dropping out and, together with collaboration partners, develop a suitable trajectory.
Connecting with initiatives that bring students and employers together (e.g. inspiration markets, “Open House for Companies” days).
Working with local authorities and participating in multidisciplinary meetings to guide students at high risk of dropping out towards employment.
Monitor deployment and effects, and develop new initiatives to enhance labour market opportunities for students at increased risk of dropping out.
About the team
Vocational Guidance Advisor (Work) forms part of the Advice & Guidance Team (TAB). Within Talland College, the TAB supports (prospective) students and (feeder) educational institutions, in the areas of study career advice, appropriate education, and additional career guidance (up to 1 year after graduation). Our team is present at each of the 5 locations of Talland College (Zaandam, Alkmaar, Purmerend, Hoorn, and Heerhugowaard).
The BA Work specifically focuses on guidance and case management for students who are transitioning to work after obtaining their MBO-2 diploma and require additional support in their move to the labour market. In doing so, the role contributes to the preventing failure and sustainably strengthening labour market opportunities.
Job requirements
Your profile
HBO work and thinking level and experience in guidance trajectories towards employment and/or education.
You have knowledge of study, labour market, and career processes. Specifically concerning students/young people with a distance to the labour market.
You are skilled in case management: maintaining an overview, coordinating, connecting, and liaising.
You have experience in guiding young people in complex situations and can provide tailored support.
You are proactive and creative, seeking collaboration and taking initiative to further develop guidance trajectories.
You have good coaching and advisory skills and know how to motivate and activate young people and colleagues.
You maintain contact with employers, local authorities, and community organisations.
You are strong in networking, collaboration and are organisationally strong.

Initially, this is a temporary appointment (0.6 – 0.8 FTE) for a period of one year, with a possibility of an extension or permanent employment.
We offer the position at scale 10 (€ 3,713 - € 5,495 per month gross, based on a full-time contract). Placement within the scale will be determined based on your knowledge, experience, and qualifications.;
