Are you a specialist in Dutch as a Second Language (NT2) and do you get energy from coaching non-native speakers? Do you also want to contribute to the development of language-oriented education and equal opportunities within secondary vocational education (mbo)? Then we are looking for you.
The function
As an NT2 and Language Support Specialist, you are the driving force behind direct support for non-native speaking students within the Language Lab. You translate language support requests into appropriate guidance and offer students a safe and stimulating learning environment in which they can develop optimally. You provide individual guidance to students and support teaching teams with issues concerning language development and language-focused education.
In addition, you will make an active contribution to the quality and accessibility of language support within the organisation.
Additional Role: Language Policy & Dutch as a Second Language Specialist
Within this role, you will also have an important part to play in developing, implementing and safeguarding the language policy within the organisation. You will advise management and teaching teams on language development, language-focused subject teaching and equal opportunities in education.
You initiate and lead projects in language policy and innovation, stimulating the development of language-focused education and strengthening collaboration between teams and disciplines. In doing so, you contribute to a sustainable improvement in the quality and coherence of language support within the organisation.
We are looking for reinforcement at the Alkmaar, Heerhugowaard, Hoorn and Zaandam locations due to growth. A combination of working at 2 locations is preferred, where possible.
About the team
TaalLab is a specialist team within our school that focuses on enhancing language skills and providing language support for students and staff. The team works on language policy, provides guidance on language development, and develops practical resources to improve language skills within our programmes.
The TaalLab Team typically comprises language coaches, teachers and educational specialists who collaborate on:
support for students with language queries;
professionalisation of teachers in the field of language-focused education;
development of teaching materials and language activities;
Advice on language policy and language testing.
The aim of TaalLab is to make language accessible and supportive for successful learning and working within vocational education (mbo).
The colleagues from TaalLab work at all Talland locations.
Job requirements
Your profile
An enthusiastic colleague with knowledge of vocational education (MBO) and in possession of a second-grade teaching qualification in Dutch and/or a certified NT2 (Dutch as a second language) teacher, or willing to obtain this qualification. Experience with non-native speaking students and insight into language development is a requirement.
You have strong communication skills, both on an individual and policy level, you are a driver, you take initiative and you have a strong sense of responsibility. You are flexible and available on Tuesdays as a minimum.
You are a coaching professional with solid digital competencies.
You are able to switch between the different educational levels we offer, keep up with developments within the field and at Talland College. You have an affinity with our students and can empathise with their motivations.

Placement is based on knowledge, skills, and education.;
