The Adriaan Roland Holst School is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic geography teacher from 1 August 2026.
We are looking for a colleague who, together with a committed and driven team, wants to contribute to geography education within our school. As a Steiner Waldorf school, we shape education together from our vision, and the development of the pupil as a whole is central.

What will you do?
You will primarily teach geography to pupils within the Mavo (VMBO-TL) stream, but you will also teach our Havo/Vwo classes. You will teach these classes in two forms: alongside traditional subject lessons, the Free School also offers so-called project lessons. If you are a teacher with great passion for your subject and for the pupils, project teaching is the most rewarding form of education. This is because you can shape these lessons entirely according to your own insight. Not just following the textbook, but inspiring and engaging the pupils with your subject every day for three weeks, during the first two lessons of the day. This gives you more scope to delve deeper and to use your own passion and creativity to inspire pupils for your subject.

Interested?
Do you want to share your passion for geography and contribute to meaningful education? Then we cordially invite you to apply.

Applications, with motivation and CV, can be sent to Silvia Welling no later than Monday 11 May 2026., s.welling@arh.nl, en Marcia van Teeseling, m.vanteeseling@arh.nl. The meetings will take place in the week of 18th to 22nd May 2026.
For questions about the position, you can contact Eva Wollaars, e.wollaars@arh.nl.

Job requirements

Who are we looking for?
  • You have a teaching qualification for Geography, preferably a second-grade qualification.
  • Trainee teachers and career changers are also warmly invited to apply.
  • You have an affinity with VMBO-T/MAVO students; (exam) experience is a plus.
  • You have strong pedagogical skills and know how to create a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • You are interested in or have an affinity with Waldorf education.

Employment conditions

What do we offer?
  • A 0.4 – 0.6 FTE appointment
  • A temporary appointment from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027 with a view to a permanent contract in the following academic year
  • Scales based on education and experience in accordance with CAO VO 2025-2027
  • good secondary employment conditions in accordance with CAO VO 2025-2027, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end bonus of 8.33%, and a generous travel expenses allowance
  • An inspiring working environment within Steiner-Waldorf education
  • Plenty of scope for personal input and shaping your lessons
  • A committed and collegial team
