At Werenfridus, starting next academic year, we are looking for a Geography teacher (qualified to teach at secondary level) with an affinity for the English language, to primarily teach lessons within the bilingual education programme.
What will you do?
At the Werenfridus, you'll be given the space to truly make a difference for pupils just starting out at secondary school.
- You will teach approximately 15-18 lessons per week to our havo and vwo students.
- You are a ‘host’ in the classroom: you create a safe foundation within which pupils take ownership of their own learning process (formative working).

Team
At Werenfridus, in addition to being part of a subject department, you are also part of a team. Together with the team leader, the team is responsible for the educational outcomes and the pedagogical and didactic approach within the department. We work with five teams, namely: the foundation year, the lower secondary HAVO and VWO streams, and the upper secondary HAVO and VWO streams. Based on your affinity with the target group and the organisation's needs, you will be assigned a place in one of the teams in consultation.
School plan
This school year, we launched the new school plan (see video below). The basis of this school plan is to support pupils to become engaged, independent and motivated world citizens. We want to do this by providing meaningful education with an emphatic place for formative action and the basic skills of language and maths, digital literacy, citizenship.
Bilingual education
Pupils are given the opportunity to follow bilingual education (TTO). This means that approximately 50 percent of the regular lessons are taught in English, for both havo and vwo. In addition to TTO, we also have a gymnasium department, and pupils can take exams in Sports and Movement (BSM) and art subjects. The school is widely known in the local area for the tailored opportunities we offer children with talents in various fields or for pupils who want or can handle more academically.
What do we expect from you?
- You (almost) hold a second-grade teaching qualification..
- You are an educator at heart. You see the students and the students see you. Through your relationships, you are able to play a decisive role in the classroom dynamic.
- You have an affinity with the HAVO/VWO target audience
- You have a Good command of the English language and you can provide geography lessons in English within our bilingual education. Native speakers are welcome to apply.
