About Trias VMBO
Trias VMBO is a public VMBO school in the north of the Zaan region and part of the OVO-Zaanstad Foundation.
Our school has 930 pupils and 130 staff members, making it a nice big school with good facilities. In our school, despite differences in background, abilities and character, all pupils are equal and respect for each other is the most important value. Under the guidance of a department leader, you will join a teaching team of about 20 teachers at Trias.
Head, heart and hands
We work with head, heart and hands education in which theoretical knowledge is converted into practical assignments that match our pupils' experiences. The environment plays a role in carrying out the assignments. This school year, all our first, second and third year students are working with laptops in class, teaching them basic ICT skills as a starting point to become digitally literate during their school career.
The aim of head, heart and hands education is to let pupils increasingly direct their own learning. We explore with pupils and parents what is needed to achieve this. We develop situations where learning can occur through the head, heart or hands. Think of a do assignment during maths.
Structure provides space
We search with and for each pupil for a learning route that suits his or her abilities and wishes. In four years, our pupils build up a career file that matches their individual talents and passions. Our teachers support pupils' broad development and encourage them towards independence and self-reliance.
Teacher as learning professional
What applies to pupils also applies to our colleagues. They are given the space to learn, explore and experiment and therefore also to make mistakes. All co-workers are actively offered training. Trias offers its staff sufficient development opportunities. New colleagues are supervised at Trias over a 3-year course.Every teacher is different and has something different to offer; this is seen, appreciated and utilised.
Our extras
