Vacancy: Music and Choir teacher - Help build Kairos College
Are you ready to do more than just teach? Do you want to use your profession to make young people not only more musically competent, but also more self-aware, expressive and connected with each other? Then we have a great challenge for you.
The Kairos Teenage College is on the move - in 2026-2027 we will grow into the Kairos College: an inspiring learning environment where pupils aged 12 to 18 discover and develop their talents. And for that, we need you.
This is where you make a difference
Kairos is all about connection. Between head, heart and hands. Between pupil and teacher. Between subject content and inner development. Based on our Waldorf vision, we work in a developmental way and see music as an essential formative subject: music feeds the emotional life, strengthens the social fabric and connects pupils with themselves and others.
As a music and choir teacher, you are not only a subject specialist, but also an accompanist, inspirer and conductor. You let pupils experience the power of singing together, work on musicality and polyphony and develop their listening skills and musical awareness. You guide choir formation and musical projects and link music education to annual celebrations, presentations and other shared moments within the school.
This vacancy also includes hours of theatre improvisation. In these classes, you work with pupils on play, attunement and group dynamics. You create a safe space in which they learn to listen, react, cooperate and dare to express themselves freely. Where possible you connect theatre and music, so that expression, rhythm, voice and movement come together in lively and meaningful education.
You help students find their voice - literally and figuratively. In this way, you contribute to their self-confidence, expression and sense of community.
What makes working at Kairos special?
Room for development
Whether you have years of experience or just want to grow: we offer plenty of opportunities for professional development, intervision and deepening in Waldorf education. Your ideas and initiatives matter.
Education with impact
You work in small teams on meaningful education. Music and play have a visible and connecting role within our school. You will help think about building the music curriculum, developing the choir and school-wide artistic moments.
Forward-looking and warm
Kairos is not a school like any other. We combine high expectations with a warm, personal approach: a place where students feel safe to sound off, play, practise and grow. Collaboration and community building are central.
Who are we looking for?
You hold a relevant (preferably first-degree) qualification in music and have an affinity with choral leadership and (theatre) acting. You have the motivation to contribute to a growing developing Waldorf school. You understand the pedagogical meaning of music and play within Waldorf education and want to work from that vision.
You believe in student ownership, enjoy thinking about educational development and enjoy working together in a close-knit team.
This vacancy can be combined with one of our other vacancies (such as mentorship), if it suits your desire, background and experience.

Job requirements

Job requirements
We are looking for a music teacher with demonstrable experience in secondary education and an affinity for working with students at different age stages (12-18 years).
You have a relevant degree in music (preferably first-degree) and experience in choral conducting. You are musically versatile and skilled in accompanying part-song, polyphony and - where possible - instrumental support. You know how to structure your lessons and build a continuous learning line in musical development, from junior to senior years.
You are able to create a safe and inspiring atmosphere in which pupils dare to sing, play and experiment. You have an eye for individual development as well as group dynamics, and know how to both support and challenge pupils.
Within this position, you will also provide hours of theatre improvisation. You have an affinity for play and are able to work with pupils on coordination, cooperation, expression and group formation. You know how to connect music and theatre naturally, so that rhythm, voice, movement and play reinforce each other.
In addition, we expect you to actively think about the further development of music education and the artistic profile of our school, and contribute to the quality and coherence of education.
We also consider it important that you are willing to educate yourself in Waldorf education so that we can promote and safeguard our educational vision together.
