A teacher at Stedelijk Dalton College Alkmaar is so much more than a teacher. Because school is about so much more than knowledge. Personal development in particular occupies a major place in our education. As an English teacher, you also coach your students in this important process. Together with your colleagues, you will form a close-knit learning community.

Your duties

Teaching your subject is of course the basis of your work. In addition, we give you the freedom and space to devote part of your working week to other tasks, such as educational development or mentoring tasks.

Your duties as a teacher will include:

  • Provide English lessons to undergraduate classes and vmbo-tl 4;
  • Contribute to the personal development of your students;
  • (possibly) be a coach/mentor for a number of students;
  • strengthening the continuous learning line together with colleagues from the subject section;
  • (possibly) providing a dalton hour (elective work time for pupils who need more guidance or more challenge).

If you become our new colleague, we will organise a familiarisation programme for you during your first year so that you can really settle in. Together with a teacher coach and your buddy from the section, you will discover everything the Stedelijk Dalton College Alkmaar has to offer you.

Job requirements

We are looking for a second-grade teacher. In addition to your qualification, we believe it is important that you:

- be an addition to the collegial working atmosphere that characterises our school;
- sees feedback as an important tool to keep growing and innovating;
- really involved in the development of our students, in terms of knowledge but also personally.

Employment conditions

The position is a teacher LB position (maximum €5,520 for full-time employment) effective immediately, with a size of 0.5 fte.

This is an initial appointment for 1 year, with the prospect of permanent employment if suitable.

In addition, we offer:

  • Salary and working conditions according to the CAO VO, including holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus of 8.33%, attractive commuting allowance (kilometres over 25 km one way are now also reimbursed after the first year) and trade-off arrangements;
  • Personal budget of 90 hours for full-time employment;
  • generous lesson storage. At SOVON, we think this is a prerequisite for doing your job well;
  • nine schools in one foundation, which means there are extra opportunities for you to grow;
  • collective insurance in case of partial disability;
  • a pension scheme with pension fund ABP.
