Lifelong development
With more than 10,000 education professionals spread over a hundred schools and twenty school boards, the Education Region Hollands Noorden is a unique collaboration in the Dutch educational landscape. Within this region, Lifelong Development is one of the pillars through which we build future-proof education together.
Hollands Noorden Academy
An important step within Lifelong Development is the introduction of our Learning Management System (LMS), which provides insight into the training offer in the region. In this system, you will find courses organised centrally (by the Education Region) and training courses offered locally by your school.
Strategic HRM
The region has been struggling with significant staff shortages in secondary education and senior secondary vocational education for years, and our labour market survey shows that these shortages will only increase in the coming years. The outflow of teachers is structurally higher than the inflow, both among experienced teachers and younger colleagues. To respond to this, a regional strategic personnel plan has been developed.
Guidance for new teachers
We are optimising the mentoring period for beginning teachers in our region. In this phase -called induction-, our new teachers receive support in finding their place in the school and offer tools for professional development and standing confidently in front of the classroom.
Why is induction important?
A good induction helps retain teachers, strengthens their professionalism and increases job satisfaction. Thus, our new teachers contribute to good teaching faster and better.
