Who we are looking for
As an experienced educational leader, you will bear integral responsibility for the school. Together with some 125 colleagues, you work
Every day, you work on the development of our pupils and on the quality of our education. You connect to the educational course we have set and the way we organise our education, and help the school grow step by step. In doing so, you will optimal use of the talents and expertise within the team.
You have a visible presence in the school and make time for a chat with colleagues and pupils. You actively listen to their feedback and needs and have an eye for what is sometimes left unsaid. You know how to connect people and ideas and ensure that initiatives reinforce each other.
Transparency and predictability in decision-making are important to you. You show which steps are taken, which considerations play a role in choices and when colleagues can think along, experiment and contribute to the improvement of
plans. After decision-making, you ensure proper implementation and assurance. You monitor progress and make visible what the work delivers. This creates a recognisable working method in which employees feel heard, decisions are widely supported and the school continues to grow in a focused way.
Consultation with the members of the participation council (staff, parents and pupils) takes place frequently in a positive atmosphere and parties do not surprise each other.
The director is part of the Atlas College management team. With an eye for diversity, we work steadily towards collectivity and the major tasks we face in secondary education. We have started a joint leadership leadership programme for the managers of the Atlas schools. In addition, a trajectory of peer consultation on our education is taking place. This trajectory offers colleagues from different locations the opportunity, under the guidance of a process supervisor, to visit each other's schools and answer a visitation question. With this programme, we offer colleagues an inspiring way to take a look at the practices of other schools at Atlas College and together arrive at insights based on the visitation questions. insights based on the visitation questions.
The headmaster participates in consultations in the region and is committed to the importance of the social mission, good and appropriate education for all students in the region. The headmaster is committed to the goals in the Atlas College strategic plan.
The director encourages colleagues to professionalise and sets a good example in this respect. Professionalisation takes place in all common areas. The impact of AI in education is a current issue.

- You have knowledge of current social issues and educational topics.
- You have proven experience in integral leadership of teams of education professionals in a final responsibility role, preferably in secondary education.
- You are able to match your leadership style to the situation. In your way of working, you always know how to find the balance between the relationship, the process and the result.
- You have positively high expectations of colleagues and give them confidence and clarity.
- You encourage and organise cooperation, development and connection between the teams.
- You hold course on once-agreed plans. You provide focus, calm and overview.
- You listen to colleagues, have an eye for different needs and interests and make use of the expertise that exists in the team.
- Your words and behaviour show that everyone counts and that you work in daily choices to provide education that all students can participate in.
- You have communication skills.
- You are the role model in terms of continuing education.
- You have an affinity with the West Frisian region and with the West Frisian learner.
- As an energetic figurehead of Copernicus SG, you will be visible in the area, both in person and through our media outlets.
- You will be a respected partner to the organisations we work with and actively seek out new collaborative initiatives that contribute to the development of our students, the school, Atlas College and the region.

The management of Copernicus consists of the headmaster and deputy headmaster. The school management is formed by the executive board, the departmental leaders and the head of organisation and management.
